“Twelve Nights with Viola & Olivia,” part of San Diego Fringe 2017, explores the lesbian side of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.”
A Stage of Our Own theater presents its workshop production of “Twelve Nights with Viola & Olivia,” written and directed by Hannah Miyamoto. In an enchanted town during the Italian Renaissance, a beautiful countess falls in love with an unusual young boy. What she doesn’t know is that her true love is really a girl–or does she? “Twelve Nights” uses original Elizabethan verse to argue that same-sex relationships are as traditional as Shakespeare in our “traditional values.” Last four performances:
Friday, June 23 – 7:30 p.m.
Monday, June 26 – 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, June 29 – 9 p.m.
Saturday, July 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Admission: $10 plus $5 Fringe Pass. Details and tickets: https://sdfringe.ticketleap.com/twelve-nights/dates.
