We are one of twelve gay square dance clubs in southern California, and about 85 in the U.S., Canada, and several other countries, including Japan and Denmark!
Hope to see you tonight!

Project OUT-Reach – a project where we are going into the areas around San Diego County where we lost Prop 8 looking for new supporters while educating the community about what's happening around the issue of marriage equality and getting them involved in the next steps towards equality. Even by starting right now, we have less than two years to change the hearts and minds of 250,000 + 1 Californians by using earned media, demonstrations, public outreach and education. To be successful we cannot just organize in areas that are supportive. We must also reach out to communities that have not traditionally been our allies in this fight to bridge the gap in understanding. We will have conversations with people, both at their doors and in busy public spaces to raise consciousness about the issue as well as funds for the cause. We will keep our community energized and engaged as activists, fighting to win back our fundamental right to marry.

In 2009, over 1,000 volunteers went door to door with us across the state to talk with voters about the importance of marriage equality for gay & lesbian couples. This year we’ve already talked with voters at their door in places like Santee and El Cajon. How great is that?
We know we’re on the right path, but California’s a huge state and we have to change the minds of 800 San Diegans this year alone or we WILL continue to lose this fight.
For our door-to-door canvass we’re gathering a team of volunteers to go in pairs to neighborhoods that mainly voted Yes on Prop 8, and we’re having conversations at the door about voters' stance on marriage. Currently in San Diego 25% of the people we talk to come closer to supporting marriage for LGBT couples. We prepare you with a great training and role play then pair you up with a volunteer who’s canvassed before.
It’s really important that we get all of our supporters out with us doing this important work. We all need to do our part.

We know we’re on the right path, but California’s a huge state and we have to change the minds of 800 San Diegans this year alone or we WILL continue to lose this fight. Currently, we don't have enough volunteers on our team to meet this goal.
That's why we're on the phones every Tuesday and Thursday night, calling our supporters and signing up new volunteers. New and experienced phone bankers are welcome -- we go through a great training with you so you'll be well prepared to sign up some new volunteers and help build the team that's going to win marriage back! We also pair you with experienced coaches to support you through your whole shift. This is the most effective way to get more supporters to join the crucial work of going door-to-door to change hearts and minds about same-sex marriage.
It’s really important that we get all of our supporters out with us doing this important work. We all need to do our part.
Join us from 6-9pm any Tuesday or Thursday night at our office, 4506 30th Street, SD 92116 (North Park/Normal Heights).

Come join us for a great gay bowling league every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Kearny Mesa Bowl. We take any level of bowler, new, intermediate, or advanced, men and women. It's a handicapped-league, which means we all bowl on equal footing. We are accepting any number of people from 1 to a full team of 4. The Summer League lasts until the middle of August. The cost is approximately $16 per week. Teams are forming now, please give us a call or email to join! The league will begin its long Winter season in early September, and we'd like to get your interest for that league as well.
This support group meeting is open to all gay men diagnosed with prostate cancer and their partners and caregivers. The meeting is held every Tuesday 6:30 to 8:00 PM except the Tuesday on or before Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.

May 19, 2010 Tijuana's 1st Annual GLBT Festival to Be Held June 19–20, 2010 TIJUANA, Baja Calif. — From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on June 19 and 20, 2010, three square blocks of downtown Tijuana will be transformed into a haven of queer culture and togetherness, as over 10,000 members of the GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender) community are expected to take part in Tijuana's first-ever Gay Pride Festival, which will feature not only art, food, and entertainment, but also social services, seminars, and various other educational opportunities. Festival admission is free for all attendees. With a theme of "Inclusión en Revolución" ("Inclusion in/for Revolution"), the inaugural TJ Gay Pride Festival will help build, educate, and empower the GLBT community in Tijuana and North Baja California by bringing its members together en masse to a forum wherein they can experience one another in a loving, safe, supportive, and fun atmosphere while increasing their awareness of GLBT social, legal, and economic issues by attending various conferences and workshops or simply availing themselves of social services that will be provided on-site. The net result will be a massive, two-day street party with a purpose. The festival's outdoor component will be divided into three zones: a food and beverage court at Plaza Santa Cecilia featuring offerings from a wide variety of restaurants and chefs, plus a stage for live entertainment; dozens of bands, DJs, and dancing on the Corona Stage at Revolución Ave. and 2nd St.; and a gamut of culture stations and social services—along with two additional performance stages—on Puente México Ave. in front of the Museo de Cera (Wax Museum). Additionally, numerous conferences, workshops, and seminars will be held inside the Municipal Institute of Arts and Culture (IMAC). Among the topics to be covered: The Rights of the Transgendered; Penalties for Discrimination Against GLBT Individuals; Homosexuality from the Perspective of the Social Sciences; Lesbian Mothers; The Case of the English Mathematician Alan Turing; and Sexual Diversity: Nondiscrimination Based on Sexual Orientation and Sexual Identity. "This groundbreaking event is poised to permanently change the landscape of GLBT life in Tijuana," says Sean Zullo, executive director of Choices Baja, the festival's organizer. "Raising the profile of the GLBT community can be leveraged into raising the quality of life for the entire population of Tijuana and Baja California. In addition, staging such a bi-national event is an opportunity to bridge broken relationships between the Tijuana-San Diego communities, as well as generally improving US-Mexico relations." Tijuana's 1st Annual GLBT Festival is made possible by sponsorship from governmental, corporate, and non-profit social service organizations. For more information, visit www.choicesbaja.com/tjpride.
